This website is dedicated in memoriam to the work of Denys Mitchell (1939-2015), artist blacksmith of Kelso, Scottish Borders.
This sculpture, commissioned by the Standard Life Assurance Company for their office complex in Devonshire Square, London, was my father's largest work. This gallery shows how its construction progressed over a period of almost 3 years.
A selection of original designs forged by Denys for exterior spaces. Some creations were for public or private clients, with other designs just for fun or skills development.
A collection of original designs forged by Denys. These could be specific commissions from public or private clients, but many ended up adorning our family home.
A portfolio complied for client perusal in the mid 1990's. This would have been taken by Denys to initial meetings to introduce his work and talents to prospective clients.
Denys Mitchell died in August 2015, leaving behind him a body of work in various public and private locations through the UK and further afield. This website has been put together to introduce visitors to the man and his impressive career as an artist blacksmith.
